Happy Fall!

It’s hard to believe summer is over and fall has arrived. Fall is a great time for personal change and to check in with where you are in terms of your goals for the year such as fitness, nutrition and overall health. There may be some healthy habits that you had on your list for this year that you might have more time to focus on in the Fall. To motivate yourself to stay focused on your fall exercise plan and some changes to your fall nutrition envision the benefits to your overall health and the goals that you want to achieve.

Fall Fitness

Fall is a great time to be energized to either start a fitness routine or change up your current exercise plan. Fall has amazing weather and is a great time for outdoor walks, hikes, running, trail runs, cycling and more. You may have been doing outdoor workouts during the summer but fall brings new scenery with the leaves changing colors and falling in many places along with some cooler days. There of course are a variety of fitness and exercise apps that you can use to bring some consistency and structure to your workouts. Be sure to include cardio and strength training as part of your plan and of course stretching after your workouts.

Fall Nutrition

Fall is also a great time to eat some nutritious fruit and vegetables available this time of the year.  Some of those are as follows: Acorn Squash, Apples, Cranberries, Pears, Pumpkin, Sweet Potatoes, Swiss Chard, and Turnips. Fall is a great time to include seasonal fruits and vegetables in some favorite or new recipes. Making a big batch of soup each week is a way to include a lot of fall vegetables and it can provide you with more than one meal to enjoy during the week. Fall is a great time to also make some Dutch Oven one pot recipes!
