Frequently Asked Questions – Health Advocate:

1-What is a Patient Advocate?  A patient advocate is a professional who provides services to patients and those supporting them who are navigating a medical diagnosis and the healthcare system. Advocates work directly with clients (or their legal representatives) to ensure the patient’s voice is heard regarding their care and reliable information is provided to assist in informed decision making. Advocates may work independently or in medical or organizational settings. Advocates provide services to individuals, families, communities, disease-specific populations, and family caregivers.

2-What is a Board-Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA)? A BCPA is certified by the Patient Advocate Certification Board (PACB); has met all conditions for credentials; practices in accordance with the PACB competencies for certification and ethical standards.

3-How are your health advocate services different from a medical provider/doctor? Pathfinder Health Coach and Advocate, LLC does not diagnose, treat, prevent or cure any disease or condition and does not prescribe. As a Patient Advocate, I am not a substitute for the advice, treatment and/or diagnosis or care of a qualified licensed professional or physician. As your advocate I do not provide a second opinion or in any way attempt to alter the treatment plans or therapeutic goals or recommendations of your personal physician. As a Health Advocate it is my role to guide clients in making informed medical decision by providing information, but I do not make health and medical decisions for the client. All advocacy sessions are confidential.

4-Do you accept health insurance for payment? I provide you with a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we are a got fit for you and or/your family. My fees are not covered by health insurance plans. I do not bill your health insurance provider. If you have an FSA (flexible spending account) or HSA (health savings account) you may be able to use one of them to cover the fees.

Frequently Asked Questions – Health Coaching

1-What is a Health and Wellness Coach? A Health and Wellness Coach listens, guides, supports and motivates you on your health and wellness path. Coaches work with clients seeking self-directed, lasting changes, aligned with their values, and tapping into strengths of the client which promotes health and wellness and overall improved well-being. A Health and Wellness coach helps their client find the best way to integrate their doctor’s recommendations into their wellness plan in order to live a healthier life.

2-What is a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC)? An NBC-HWC is a coach who qualified to take the certification test provided by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching. The test is a collaboration between the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) and National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). All practitioners who meet eligibility requirements and pass the examination are designated National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coaches (NBC-HWC). There practitioners demonstrate a standard of practice that assists people in selecting a health and wellness coach.
